WILLY MCELROY & THE IMMIGRANTS

The Immigrants are a new Byron Bay band made up of Willy McELroy, Guy Maddigen, Steve Gilbert, Phil Levy & Michael Turner
I cross to Byron Bay in northern New South Wales Australia to catch up with Willy McElroy & The Immigrants. an exciting new band from Byron bay. Their music is a fusion of Celtic, Soul and Folk. The passionate lyric deals with contemporary struggles of oppression, love and kindness while rooted in a deep mythological past. The Immigrants transport these songs to life with earthy rhythms and beautiful melodies. A seasoned crew with Coluorful pasts, between them have won Arias awards released countless albums and traveled the world plying their music as the went. They use bouzouki, banjo, acoustic guitar, percussion, bass, mandolin and mouth organ.. all wrapped up with a scene of ancestory and humor. I spoke with lead singer Willy, but will get back and interview the whole band soon!

Jacob cycles across Japan and sleeps outdoors!

I caught up with 23 year old Australian Jacob Strong who is currently crossing Japn on a bike! He sleeps outdoors! Jacob has met some very interesting people and we chat about the Japanese culture, tjhe food, the egnerosity of the people, and where he is headed. I'll get back to Jacob towards the end of his trip in a month where I'm sure he will ahve many new stories to tell!

I cross to melbourne to chat with Rhys and Tom from "Eat, Sleep, Spray, Repeat", where they are selling their street art on clothing from their website, where profits go to support for young people with mental illness. In their words...

"An idea created with the philosophy that we can make day to day purchases like clothing, have a real impact.

We want to do this by collaborating with different artists and their different styles to bring the public a range of fresh and unique clothing that will help start conversations around mental health and raise money towards the cause.

100% of proceeds from all clothing sold will go towards Livin and their incredible work on helping remove the stigma around mental health and help push forward their powerful message ‘it ain’t weak to speak’. Get around them and don’t forget to check out www.livin.org.au .

Awesome people doing awesome things!".
